Step by Step: Basics of Washing Laundry

Washing doesn't have to be a hassle follow the step by step guide below for the basics of washing clothes!

1. Pre-Treating: The first step in the washing process is pre-treating any stained areas with a stain remover or enzyme detergent. This helps to break down and remove tough stains before they set, making them easier to wash out later on.

2. Washing: Linen items are then loaded into the washing machine and washed using warm water and a gentle laundry detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics such as linen. It’s important not to overload the machine so that all of the items can be evenly cleaned without damaging them in any way.

3. Rinse Cycle: After the main cycle has finished, it’s time for a rinse cycle which will help ensure all traces of detergent have been removed from the linen. This will help prevent any irritation or skin reactions caused by residual detergent left behind after washing.

4. Drying: Once all of the water has been extracted, linen items are ready to be dried either in a tumble dryer on a low setting or hung up somewhere warm and airy away from direct sunlight. It’s important not to over-dry as this can cause fabrics to become brittle and fade faster than usual.

5. Ironing/de-wrinkling: Finally, once dried it’s time for ironing or steaming which helps restore crispness and structure back into your linens while also giving them a neat appearance that will last longer than if they were simply left crumpled after washing.
